2010 Current Standings : Men Women any enquiries about the league please email development

Rules of the competition:
  • Open to all members of Southern Navigators Orienteering Club.
  • Seperate competitions are held for male and female members of the club.
  • The league organiser will set handicaps based upon age group, current standing, and past performances.
  • At selected events competitors will be advised which is the primary course male/females should run to be compeitive for the SN league.
  • For each event points are given as 100, 98, 96...90 and then 89, 88, 87... to each runner based upon their adjusted handicap position.
  • When all competitors have been awarded points on the chosen course, points are then awarded (again based upon handicap position) on the next lower standard course.
  • At the final event of the season extra points are awarded as per 110, 108, 106... 100, 99, 98 ...
  • The best "n" events (typically 5 from 11) are taken to give the overall standings at the end of the year.
  • The league organiser will publish details at the begingging of the year of the number of "counting" events for the new season.
  • If two or more people are equal in points a count back system will operate based upon position (not points), i.e. who won the most events, and/or who had the most second places etc, until a winner can be decided.
  • The winners are automatical deduct 0.1 handicap for the following year
  • The league organiser decsion is final.

 14-Jul-10  Merrist Wood At the Merrist Wood event, the men’s was won by Peter Bray, and Kai Magee was second. Katherine Bett won the women’s, with Sarah Rollins second. After reviewed the speed of Colin Dickson and Axel Blomquist, I have decided to change their handicaps from 1.4 to 1.3. This hasn't affected the results of any of the previous events.  
  June-10  Eagle House At the Eagle House event in June, Pete Jones won the men’s, with Colin Dickson second. In the women’s, there were only 5 finishers, with Jenny Bray winning and Elizabeth Dickson coming second. 
 20-Mar-10  Alice Holt The fourth event of the year was the Score event at Alice Holt in March. As there was no extra score, I introduced a handicap of 2 to all of the juniors who didn't have one previously, just for the purposes of this score, so that the juniors weren't penalized. The winner of the Woman's was Linda Cairns, and Andrew Cairns won the men's.
27-Feb-10 Witley The third event was at Witley Common on 27th February. This time, only 10 women and 22 men ran. The men’s was won by Axel Blomquist, with Tom Frost second. Vanessa Thorpe won the women’s and Jenny Bray was second.
6-Feb-10 Eagle House  The second event of the season was at Eagle House on 6th February. A total of 47 SN members ran: 27 men and 20 women. The men’s was won by Ross Maclagan, with Jon Magee second. Katherine Bett won the women’s, with Stefanie Blomquist second
1  16-Jan-10   Long Valley North  Sarah Francis has done the league for the last six years, but now I have taken over the job. Changes to handicaps are below. The first event of the league was at Velmead Common, alongside the Junior League. 26 men ran, but only 10 women. After the application of handicaps, Andrew Cairns won the men's, with Pete Jones second. The women's was won by Jane Archer, with Vanessa Thorpe second. Handicaps that have been changed or added from last season:
